AMPP Interview Series

NACE International member and Consultant Corrosion Engineer Ali Morshed joins the MP Interview Series to discuss the concept of corrosion management; the benefits of corrosion management in hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon industries; and his soon-to-be published book on the topic. The third edition of his book, titled “An Introduction to Asset Corrosion Management in the Oil and Gas Industry” and published by NACE, will be available later this fall.

Cynthia O'Malley, chief integration officer at NACE International, offers an inside look at the integration process between NACE International and SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings. O'Malley, who is also executive director of the Master Painters Institute (MPI), explains why her background has uniquely positioned her for the important role. Alan Robinson, commercial vice president at Dow Polyurethanes, details his company's new journey into the world of predictive intelligence and shares insight on what it could mean for end users within protective coatings and corrosion control. Nick Birbilis, Deputy Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the Australian National University in Canberra, joins the inaugural episode of the CORROSION journal Interview Series to explain the basics of additively manufactured metals.

Richard Tooley, owner of Kansas City-based Elite Roof Systems, explains how his roofing company is setting up a new program to award a free commercial roof to a regional nonprofit later this year. In the episode, Tooley explains the motivations and steps involved in setting up this type of program, which could potentially be adopted by other contractors, as well.

In this podcast, NACE members Joe Mazzella and Tom Hayden of Engineering Director, Inc. (Evanston, Illinois, USA)  join the MP Interview Series to discuss the work they are doing to combat corrosion through the use of machine learning. They provide a brief overview of their project that involves estimating corrosion growth rates in underground pipelines; details about the computer vision app they are creating; and an update on NACE task group TG 589.
